It takes a minute to have a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to fall in love with someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone. – Unknown
I really wanted to right a more serious story with us and the Avatar characters. I was looking up quotes online and this one really inspired me to write. It’s an AU so the characters didn’t magically come out of the TV. They are real people. As for their bending I’ll have to see.
Plot-
When do you meet the person that you’ll love forever? At a dance or a party? Maybe even your school? Well how about in a tomato garden, circus, or a parade? As they say love can happen anywhere. So when Lindsay meets Aang, Sammi meets Zuko, and Kalin meets Sokka what else do you expect to happen?
Chapter 1- Tomatoes, Popcorn, and Floats of all kinds.
Careful. Careful! CAREFUL! Ow. Too late.
Lindsay sat up rubbing her head. Looking around she saw that all the tomatoes had spilled on the ground.
“Shoot.” Lindsay muttered under her breath.
She leaned over and she began to pick them up. Tossing them carelessly into the bowl in which her aunt had given her. She was staying at her family’s house for the week and her aunt had simply asked her to go out into the garden and pick tomatoes. She wasn’t doing a very good job.
“Need help with that?” a voice asked.
She spun around to see a boy about her age with shaggy black hair and grey eyes standing above her on the patio. He was wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans with a skate board in one hand.
“Yeah, thanks.” Lindsay answered.
He reached his hand out and she took it. Helping her from her spot on the ground he smiled softy.
“Tomatoes huh?” the boy asked as they began picking them up.
“Yeah, my aunt wanted them. It’s her house.” she explained pointing to the house.
The boy nodded before giving her a curious look. “Are tomatoes fruits or vegetables?”
Lindsay shrugged “I don’t know. I think of them as vegetables.”
“Really?” the boy asked “I always considered them fruits.
“But it tastes like a vegetable.” Lindsay insisted
He sighed “I wouldn’t know I never had one.”
Lindsay looked shocked. “Really? Here try,” She handed him a tomato.
“You’re aunt won’t mind?” he asked
“No of course not.” She grinned.
The boy took a bite of the tomato.
“Nahh, it’s too sweet to be vegetable.” He stated with his mouth full.
Lindsay just smiled while shaking her head in disagreement.
“I’m Aang.” He said swallowing “What’s your name?”
“I’m Lindsay, nice to meet you Aang. What brings you to my aunt’s backyard?”
“I was going to the woods.” He said pointing behind her.
“You know that’s private property. You aren’t supposed to go there.”
Aang gulped nervously.
Lindsay gave him a friendly elbow in the side. “Hey, I’m not a tattle tale. I won’t tell.”
He gave a sigh of relief. “Thanks.”
“Don’t mention it.”
“Hey will you be around tomorrow?” he asked her.
“Yeah, I don’t think we’re doing anything.”
“Cool!” he said excitedly before dashing off in the direction of the woods.
Lindsay giggled. She liked her new friend. Happily she turned and walked back towards the house.

“Hey Sammi will you get me some popcorn?”
“Yes almighty brother. I shall do exactly as you say.” She answered him sarcastically.
“Sammi!” Mother scolded “Go get your brother some popcorn.”
“Fine.” Sammi sighed getting up from her seat. Her family was at the circus. Not one of the circuses where they had wild animals though. Forcing wild animals to do crazy stunts was animal cruelty in her eyes.
Sammi pushed her way through the crowd and to the snack stand. She ordered a large popcorn bag. As she turned to go back to her seat she bumped into someone and dropped her popcorn and fell over.
“Sorry!”
Looking up Sammi saw someone wearing a black hooded coat. The coat hood masked his face. As Sammi stood up he picked up the popcorn.
“Some of it spilled. I can buy you a new one if you want.”
“Oh that’s ok.” She insisted.
“Are you sure?” he asked.
She nodded.
“Yup. Thank you though.”
“So umm, why are you wearing a cloak?” She moved her head in different angles trying to see his face.
He moved away and pulled it even farther over his face. “I have a scar.”
“Oh. Do you mind if I asked how you got it?”
“Yes.” He said obviously loosing his temper.
“Sorry. What’s your name? I’m Sammi!”
He sighed “My name is Zuko. Now if you would excuse me, I’m going to be late.”
Sammi crocked her head to one side “Late for what?”
“I work here.” He muttered.
“Oh. What do you do?”
“I juggle.” Without another word he walked past her.
“Ok…bye.” She muttered.
Sammi walked back to her seat and gave her brother what was left of the popcorn. He ate it with out a word.

Kalin watched as the parade went by. There were lots of colorful floats. Kalin had come alone to the parade because her parents were seeing a show nearby. It was a nice parade but it would have been more fun if a friend had come with her. It was boring to have no one to talk too.
The boy next to her seemed to be having the same issue. He was leaning against the rail not speaking. In fact he didn’t look bored just…sad.
“Umm hey.” She said awkwardly.
He looked over at her for a second then looked away. “Hey.”
“Cool floats huh?” Kalin asked.
“Yeah.” He answered.
“Something wrong?”
“What?” he asked “Oh well yeah.”
Kalin leaned against the railing that edged the sidewalk. “You know it might help if you talk to me about it.”
He looked back over at her.
“Since you don’t know me you wouldn’t need to worry about holding back.” She continued.
There was a silence before he spoke. “My sister was killed in a car crash last week.”
Kalin gasped. “Oh my god. I’m so sorry, I didn’t realize!”
He nodded “That’s ok. It’s been hard for me and my dad. We lost our mother a few years ago to the same thing. It’s like reliving the tragedy. My dad finally convinced me to get out of the house, so here I am.”
“That’s really sad. I know how hard it is to lose a family member.”
Kalin hesitated before giving him a quick hug.
He laughed. “Thanks. That cheered me up. What’s your name?”
“Kalin. I’m not from around here. Just visiting New York City.”
He nodded. “I’m Sokka.”
He paused for a moment thoughtfully. “Hey have you ever been to Ellen’s Stardust dinner?”
She shook her head. “You’d like it.” He grabbed her hand. “Come on I’ll show you.”
