If i spell anything wrong....blame sammi _ _ _ _ _ __ Aang looked up to see none other than Katara. "Get off!" he complained "Not until you explain why you think you can just come in here by yourself!" Aang was losing his temper. "Well I would have asked you but you were too busy to even talk to me!" Katara looked offened "Excuse me?" "What I had to tell you was important!" "Well if its so important then why don't you just tell me now!??!" she growled Aang froze. Should I tell her? What if she doesn't feel the same way to me? I mean I've got to tell her sometime right? "Do you really want to know?" he asked "Yes! What is it thats bothering you?" Katara asked Suddenly the foxes who had attacked Katara and Aang before jumped out of the bushes. "Spies!" One yowled "W-Wha?" Katara gasped "Were not spies!" "You can always tell! You smell like the River wolves!" Katara was very confused "Attack!" One of the foxes yowled Katara didn't know what hit her. So many foxes had attacked at once. All she remember was calling despreatly to Aang. Before one of the foxes knocked her over the head and everything went black. "Katara! Katara please wake up!" Aang nugded his friends blood covered fur. Katara slowly opened her eyes. "A-ang?" she coughed "Ow......how badly hurt am I?" "Shhh," he soothed her "Don't look down." "Why?" she asked "Just don't" "Why!?" She asked looking down this time. She gasped. Katara had seen the huge rip in fur side. I was covered in both her flesh and blood. "Oh...Aang I think I'm gonna puk-" It was too late Katara had thrown up blood all over her paws and chest. Aang felt her shake and she began to whimper. "Its ok Katara. Everythings going to fine. Zuko and Mai just came by, they went to get help. I just need you to stay awake for a bit longer. We can talk if it will help....." "Yes please. Tell me what you want to say before." Katara asked weakly. Aang took a deep breath Here goes.... "Katara...ever since I meet you....I've liked you....but more then a friend. You are the most beautiful person I've ever met weather you're a fox or a human....and whenever I look into your eyes....I just can't look away....I guess what I'm trying to say is......I love you Katara...." he shuffled his paws. "...oh Aang thats so sweet...." Katara whispered "I love you too..."

Zuko panted, keeping perfect pace with Mai this time. When they had reached Katara and Aang, they were covered in blood and dust from a fight with other foxes. Katara had a nasty slash in her side, and Aang was just plain exhausted. "Thought we were...tresspassers...Katara...unconsious...get help..." he had managed to whisper. Now they were sprinting across the forest, looking for anyone--or anything--that could help their friends. "What if we...don't see...anyone?" Mai asked, taking in gulps of air between words. This was faster then either of them had ever gone in their lives. "Then we'll...just have to...get Toph and...Sokka. And help them...ourselves." Speaking was almost too painful to bear. Suddenly, they saw a familiar bush, and the clearing ahead. Toph must've sensed them coming because she burst out in front of them, Sokka right behind her. "What's wrong?!" she asked, frightened by the extreme rhythm of their breathing. Mai managed to summarize what Aang told them, and Zuko tried to explain where they were. "You guys catch up with us ASAP!" Sokka called as he started off with Toph. Mai and Zuko collapsed on the ground, their sides heaving. "If we ran any...faster than that in our lives..." Mai joked, "I think my lungs would've blown up!" Zuko chuckled and closed his eyes, happy that Mai was the one next to him. A few minutes later he stood up. "Ready?" he asked. Mai nodded, and again they started after the mysterious Avatar and his loving pursuer.

Where are they....they....should....be....coming..... Darkness * * * * * * "What is it Snow?" "I'm not sure. It smells like blood." Todd flicked his ears as his mate spoke. The two foxes had been out hunting for their family when Snow had heard snarls and yelps. Snow the beauiful white artic fox had not always lived in the forest. She had excaped form a zoo and found her way into the forest, where she met Todd's family. "Over here!" she called to her mate. Todd bounded after his mate into the woods. He was shocked at what they found. Two young foxes about their age bleeding and collased on the ground. Snow snarled in anger. "This is the work of Slash no doubt." Todd shuttered as he thought of the leader of a nearby pack. Slash's parents had been killed by River wolves and he wasn't about to let anyone forget it. Snow had bent over and was sniffing the too strangers carefuly. "The she-fox is dying." she whispered. "We should bring them back to the den and have Brassa look at them." Todd nodded. "Lets go."

It's about time. =)
----------------------------------------------------------------
"Where are they?!" Zuko howled, skidding to a halt. Mai stopped beside him, almost crashing into Toph from slipping on the blood. "I don't know," Sokka answered solemnly. "Well...they can't be far, can they?" Mai reasoned. "I mean considering their condition, it's not like they could walk by themselves. They were barely alive." Sokka shot a look of hurt at Mai, and she almost regretted saying it. But these people - err, foxes - needed the truth, no matter how much it hurt. Otherwise, when reality finally hit, it'd hit hard. So Mai turned her head away. "This way!" Toph shouted suddenly. She seemed to have picked up a scent trail. Everyone followed her and began sniffing the ground themselves. "There were others. It wasn't just Katara and Aang. Two foxes were with them," Sokka said. The trail was long, leading them down a river and into a part of the forest none of them had been to before. Eventually, Mai heard a low growl from Zuko, and looked at him. She had been so focused on the trail that she didn't notice their group had stopped, and Sokka and Toph were growling too. She looked ahead and caught sight of two foxes; one a brilliant, fluffy white, and the other a reddish-brown. Mai began to growl herself when she saw Katara and Aang's limp bodies beside the other foxes. "What do you think you're doing?" Sokka demanded.

"Damn it." Todd growled "They're proably from Slash's pack." "Do we run?" Snow asked nervously. Todd felt humilated at the idea of running but he nodded in argeement. With the two limp foxes swung across their backs they fleed down the river. They other foxes followed in fast pursuit. Todd felt something hit his head. He looked up to see a strange winged animal. "Put them down!" "Just to have you finish them off?" Todd growled shaking the creature off is head. "No thanks." "Todd!" Snow called. "The tunnel!" "Great idea! It's right up here!" They lunged into the undergrowth. The gaang followed but as exited the undergrowth, they found that the two strangers had disappeared, along with Katara and Aang.

Zuko couldn't believe it. Their friends were gone, without any trace, and even worse - they were with dangerous foxes who were probably going to kill them.
"What now?" he asked, looking around. There was silence. Toph just shook her head, enveloped in her own thoughts. She was pacing the floor, nose to the dirt. "There must be something we can do!" he insisted.
"Don't you think we're trying?" Sokka snarled. "I obviously don't want my sister dead."
"I know that."
"Good, so think of a plan then, if you're so smart!"
"Listen Sokka--"
"GUYS! Shut. Up." They all turned their heads to Toph. "There's a trail. Look." Sure enough, little drops of blood made a path ahead of them.
"Nicely done, Toph," Mai commented, leading the way. Zuko guessed she wasn't just talking about the discovery.
"Why thank you Mai." The younger girl followed her, with Sokka and Zuko in back, who were both largely embarassed about their immature bickering.
"Uh, sorry about that, man," Sokka said lamely. Zuko averted his gaze.
"Yeah, me too. Don't mention it."
"Okay."
They kept a brisk pace for a while, then stopped.
"There," said Toph, nose pointed straight ahead. Zuko could see the tunnel vaguely. It was curtained with brush and looked just big enough for a sneaky fox to slip into. Mai went in first. Zuko almost objected, but she would be extremely aggrivated if he tried stopping her from anything she was sure she could handle. Nonetheless, he got close to it and looked in. He couldn't see a thing.
"How is it in there?" he asked nervously. Mai wasn't usually one to initiate the first move in these things but she probably just wanted a bit of change.
"Dark."
"Do you see anything?"
"No. I just told you it was dark."
"There's got to be light somewhere," Sokka said, getting close to the opening as well. It must have been silently decided that Mai was the guinea pig, for no one else was going in yet.
Suddenly Mai's head popped back up. "Could you be any louder?" She hopped out of the tunnel and shook her fur. "It's not long. I got to the end and they're in a clearing on the other side."
"Hurry!" Sokka exclaimed, jumping in. Toph went after him, followed by Zuko and then Mai. She was right, in seconds the darkness ended and they could see the other foxes in front of them. The little group fanned out side-by-side, staying a safe distance from the others.
"Give them up and we won't hurt you," Sokka said. Zuko could tell he was straining to keep his voice even. And what was all this about not hurting anybody? Those bastards tried to kill his friends. They weren't getting away unharmed.
"Not going to happen," said the white one, a she-fox. Sokka's teeth were clenched as he continued.
"Please, just let them go. I..." he shook his head, looking unsure whether he should continue. "She's my sister."
A look of shock crossed both of the kidnappers' faces. Telling dangerous people that the ones they have are of relation to you can be good or bad: good because maybe they'll give in and let them go, and bad because maybe they'll be even more cruel with them. But what does a surprised face mean?
"You would cause such harm to your own sister?" The male spat. "Such filth."
"What harm? What are you crazies talking about?" Toph said desperately. Zuko was also confused.
"How can you pretend you don't know? Just look how you've wounded these foxes!" The female shouted.
"What? You think... Oh, Agni. We didn't do that!" Zuko shouted.
I can't believe this.
